Behind the Caligulian Dock, set between the Rione Terra and the Piazza della Repubblica, there is the Darsena, called by all the people of Pozzuoli “’O Valion” (meaning “The Galleon”).
Dialect name of this fantastic place comes from the story which tells that Saint Paul landed just here, in this little port with his galleon.
The Darsena has a double life: in the morning lived by fishermen who, after the fishing night, cure nets and fishtraps, from the late afternoon, when it becomes the heart of the nightlife in Pozzuoli. A destination for the Phlegraean youth walking around with their own drink, as an economic solution for those who want to spend the evening cheerfully.
Although it is a meeting place for young people – and less young – all over the year, ‘O Valion shows its best on the aperitifs on December 24th and 31th, becoming a must for thousand people.
During these two days a lot of people crowds this place, creating a unique and convivial ambient. A different way to wish the best in cheerfulness and conviviality.
