The Forest of Cumae is one of the last fragments of a big coastal forest, known in the ancient time as Silva Gallinaria. Renowed for its proximity to Cumae, first Greek colony in Italy and cradle of western civilization, its history is always being  linked intrinsecally to that of the city. It was used as a natural barrier against enemies raids in the ancient time, but these days enriches an archaelogical world-famous complex with a huge naturalistic value.
The forest offers several itineraries: indeed there is also the coastal dune, a protected ecosystem which is going to disappear from our shores because of the urbanization. Here in Cumae this coastal dune is in its best conditions, probably the best all over the Campania region.
